From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
